Library Cards:  Richfield Library is a city library, funded by the taxes paid by the people of Richfield City, and by library card fees paid by patrons from outside Richfield City limits.

Library cards are free for Richfield residents, and for all children who attend or are eligible to attend Richfield preschools, daycares and schools.

Patrons who reside outside Richfield pay a $10 annual fee for library privileges.

Getting a Library Card:  To obtain a library card,  patrons must come to the library and show 1) a picture id with a current address, or 2) a picture id with an old address, and another proof of current address (a check, a fishing license, a piece of mail, a rental agreement, a utility bill etc.)  They will be asked to fill out a form with necessary information, and given a library card.

Library Cards for Children: Parents must come with children to sign them up for library cards.  Please bring 1) a picture id with a current address, or 2) a picture id with an old address, and another proof of current address (a check, a fishing license, a piece of mail, a rental agreement, a utility bill etc.)  Parents will be asked to fill out a form with necessary information, and then the child can be given a library card.  Replacement cards cost $2.00 each.

Limits on Checkouts:  Patrons with a permanent card can get 12 materials (books, cds, videos etc)  out at a time on their library card (or they can get a family card, which circulates up to 25 materials).  Patrons can only take out 3 videos, 3 audios, and 3 holiday books at a time.  Patrons can check out 10 downloadable e-audiobooks (mp3s) for 3 weeks at a time.  Patrons with a temporary card can take out 3 items, not including audios, until they can show a permanent address in order to upgrade to a permanent card.

Circulation Time:  Materials (books, movies, audios) all circulate for 2 weeks.  They can be renewed for an additional 2 weeks by phone or in person before they are due, provided no other patron has reserved them, and if they are not a new book.

Fines:  Overdue books, movies, audios etc will be charged 10 cents per day.

Library Privileges can be limited or revoked by the director for excessive overdues, damaged books etc.
