Richfield Library Services:
Computer Training: We offer computer training to seniors and others in the form of one-time sessions covering a variety of popular topics for you to gain hands-on experience. By appointment only, call 896-5169. Includes: Basic computer use, e-mail basics, word processing, how-to browse and search the internet, Heritage Quest for genealogy, Pioneer: Utah's Online Library and Databases, Excel, Power Point and blogging.
Wireless Access - Bring your laptop to the library and use our Wi Fi Access. To log on, ask a librarian for the login and password, and a copy of our policies.
Materials and Services: The library has adult and children's materials including books, magazines, books on tape/cd, free downloadable e-audiobooks, VCR/ DVD movies, newspapers. PC Computers are available to everyone for Internet access, email and word processing. Printing and photostats cost 10 cents per sheet.
Inter Library Loan: Patrons can request up to 3 books per month to be loaned by other libraries. There is no charge for this service. Patrons must come in and fill out an ILL request form with author and title information. ILL normally takes at least 3-6 weeks, and may take longer for some materials.
Reserves/Placing a Hold: Patrons can place a hold or reserve a book in the Richfield collection which is currently checked out. We have no way of knowing that a book is on hold if it is on the shelf. To do so, come to the library, or call 896-5169, or log on to the account online (at login, omit 'P' in front of patron number). Richfield Library will call the patron when the material becomes available, and we will hold the book for 3 days.
Search our book and material catalog ONLINE through the Internet! If you find a book that you want to borrow but is checked out to another patron, you may put your name on the hold list. However, if the book is not checked out, placing a hold will not help.
See your library account ONLINE through the Internet; learn what materials you have out, when books are due or overdue, and what fines you have, or place books on hold only if they are currently checked out. (At account login, omit the "P" on your patron number)
Book Recommendations: The library encourages children and parents to recommend books that should be considered for purchase!
Books and Other Materials circulate for 2 weeks; 12 materials can be checked out at one time on one card. Fines are 10 cents per day. Books and other materials can be renewed by phone if they are not yet due, and no one else has them on reserve.
Computers: Computers are open to the public, and to all children under the age of 18 if their parents have signed an Internet agreement for the child. Visitors are welcome to use the computers. Please use the computers for less than 2 hours per day, and for only 30 minutes if someone else is waiting to get on a computer. Please see the Internet use agreement for description of acceptable uses. The Richfield Library computers are filtered; adults can request that the filter be dropped for a specific site. Internet Pornography is absolutely forbidden in the library. The director or the librarian on duty can withdraw computer privileges from any patron who abuses computer use in any way.
Printing, Photostats: Computer black and white laser printing is available at 10 cents per page. Photostats (Xeroxing) is available at 10 cents per page.
We do not have a Fax at the library.
Fiction VCR tapes are free to check out. Fiction DVDs have no charge but a $1 donation would be appreciated to cover the much shorter life of delicate DVD disks, which must be replaced more often than VCR tapes.
The "Friends of the Richfield Library" welcomes new members, contributions of money, books and yard sale goods. The Friends help to raise money for projects that benefit the library, including children's programs, audiobooks on tape, grant matches, and shelving. For more information, talk to Linda Fields at 896-5169.
Volunteers: Volunteers who would like to help the library are encouraged to contact Linda Fields at 896-5169. Opportunities exist for volunteers to assist with children's programs, reshelving books, teaching classes etc.
Meeting Room: Richfield Library does have a small meeting room (6-8 people) available to the public through appointment only. To discuss the feasibility of any meeting, call Linda Fields at 896-5169.
